The Government of Maldives strongly condemns the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards by Israeli settlers, under the protection of occupying forces.
Such acts constitute a flagrant violation of international law and are provocative attempts to undermine the sanctity and historical status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. These repeated violations represent an attack on the religious rights of the Palestinian people and Muslims worldwide.
The Government of Maldives reiterates its call on the international community to take decisive measures to hold the occupying forces accountable for their actions, protect religious sanctities and ensure adherence to international law and international human rights law.
The Maldives firmly supports the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and stresses that a just and lasting resolution to the conflict can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
