15 January 2013, Male'; The Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development of Mauritius, His Excellency Xavier Luc Duval met with His Excellency Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, today.
During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister discussed ways of further strengthening the existing close relations between the Maldives and Mauritius.The discussion focused on a wide range of issues including cooperation in maritime security, tourism cooperation, increasing investments and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as addressing climate change issues faced by small island states.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Mr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf, Ambassador at Large, Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Joint Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives, Mr. Ali Mansour, Finance Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of Mauritius, Mr. Azaadh Dhomun, Roving Ambassador of Africa and senior officials of the Mauritius Government.
His Excellency Xavier Luc Duval also called on His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Waheed, President of the Republic of Maldives and met with the Minister of Finance and Treasury, H.E. Mr. Abdullah Jihad.
