Vice President Departs on an Official Visit to China

04 June 2014; Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed has this evening ‎departed on an official visit to China. During this official visit, he will be ‎attending the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd China-South Asia Expo, and the ‎‎9th China-South Asia Business Forum. The Vice President is also ‎scheduled to meet with the Vice Premier of China, H.E Wang Yang. ‎



Meeting the local media at the Ibrahim Naseer International ‎Airport prior to his departure, Vice President Jameel said that he will be ‎meeting with the Chinese business community, in order to seek potential ‎investors for various development projects in the Maldives.‎

Continuing in this regard, the Vice President stated that he will be ‎discussing the Government's reform agenda with the Chinese Government, ‎including housing development projects, the integrated development ‎project, iHavan, in the north of the country, and airport development ‎initiatives. Vice President Jameel further stated that the Chinese ‎Government has expressed its keenness in cooperating with the Maldives ‎on these development projects.‎

Vice President Jameel is accompanied by Minister at the ‎President's Office, Hon. Abdulla Ameen.‎
