During the official function held on the occasion of the opening of the Japanese Embassy in Maldives, Foreign Minister Dunya stated that the opening of the Embassy is the beginning of a new chapter in the strong bonds between the governments and the peoples of Maldives and Japan.
While addressing the function held in Dharubaaruge, Minister Dunya conveyed warm greetings and sincere congratulations on behalf of His Excellency the President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the People of Maldives to the Government and the friendly people of Japan on this auspicious occasion. Foreign Minister further stated that the opening of the Embassy symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter in the strong bonds of bilateral relations between the two countries. Continuing with her remarks, Minister further highlighted on the historical relationship and various development assistance provided by the Government of Japan to the Maldives. Minister assured firm commitment to work closely with the Embassy in strengthening the strong relations between the Maldives and Japan.
Concluding her remarks Minister Dunya expressed her appreciation to the Government and the friendly people of Japan for the most generous support and cooperation extended to the Maldives over the years and most importantly for being a true and a reliable friend.
As the host, H. E. Mr. Masakazu Hamachi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan and H.E Mr. Kenichi Suganuma, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives attended the Official Reception held on the occasion of the opening of the Embassy of Japan in the Maldives.
Foreign Minister Dunya attended the function as Chief Guest.
