19 May 2014, Male'; The new Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal to the Maldives, His Excellency Mr. Amadou Mustapha Diouf, has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon.
At the meeting held this afternoon, Minister Dunya welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated him on his appointment. Minister also extended greetings and good wishes from the Government and the people of Maldives to the Government and the people of Republic of Senegal.
At the meeting, Minister Dunya remarked at the value attached by the Government of Maldives in respect of the bilateral ties that exist between the two countries, and highlighted the attributes of shared values, and mutual respect, that underlie the close relations.
Minister also expressed confidence that both Governments would engage in promoting economic cooperation in sectors such as security, fisheries development, tourism, transport, information technology, renewable energy and communication.
Minister Dunya was accompanied by Ms. Aishath Azeema, Joint Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives.
