The New High Commissioner of Maldives to India Presents Credentials to the President of India
The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India, His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb, presented his Letter of Credence to Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, President of the Republic of India, at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
During the courtesy call held following the ceremony, High Commissioner Shaheeb conveyed greetings from His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Government and the People of the Republic of Maldives to the President and the friendly people of India. High Commissioner Shaheeb further expressed appreciation for the support received from India in the socio-economic development of Maldives and conveyed commitment to work closely with the Government of India and its people, with a renewed focus on taking the relationship to new heights especially expanding trade and investment ties between the two countries. President Murmu congratulated High Commissioner on his appointment and expressed hope to work closely with the Maldives in further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
Today’s ceremony was witnessed by the Spouse of High Commissioner, Madam Mariyam Ilham Niyaz. In addition, Defence Advisor of Maldives in India, Col. Mohamed Ibrahim, First Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Suzil, First Secretary, Ms. Maryam Bassam Farooq, and Second Secretary, Mr. Nuaz Afeef from the High Commission of Maldives in India participated in the event.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Maldives to the Republic of India on 10 October 2022.
