10 June 2014, Male'; The new Ambassador of Greece to the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Mr. Ionnis E. Raptakis has called on the Foreign Secretary,His Excellency Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
At the meeting held at the Foreign Ministry this morning, the Foreign Secretary welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated him on his appointment. Foreign Secretary also noted the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and Greece, and discussed ways of further strengthening the existing ties, especially in sectors such as tourism and shipping.
The Ambassador assured his commitment to working with the Government in strengthening the relations between the two countries and discussed avenues for easing Schengen visa regulations for Maldivians travelling to Europe.
Foreign Secretary was accompanied by Ms. Nahula Ali, Executive Coordinator and Mr. Hussain Jahhaz, Senior Desk Officer of the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives.
