The Maldives has submitted a written statement to the International Court of Justice with regard to the request for an Advisory Opinion on the legal consequences arising from the policies and practises of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem.

The request for an Advisory Opinion was made through resolution 77/247, which was passed during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Maldives voted in favour of the resolution.

The statement was prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Attorney General’s Office.

The Maldives has always stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people in their fight for self-determination and the realisation of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine established on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
