The Maldives and Mongolia sign Visa Exemption Agreement

The Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of Mongolia today signed the Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements, which allows for the exemption of visa requirements for both country’s nationals, for a period of 30 days.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Government of Maldives by His Excellency Ibrahim Shaheeb, High Commissioner of Maldives to India, and on behalf of the Government of Mongolia by His Excellency Ganbold Dambajav, Ambassador of Mongolia to Maldives. The signing ceremony was held in New Delhi, at the Embassy of Mongolia.

During the discussions at the signing ceremony, High Commissioner Shaheeb thanked the Government of Mongolia for its commitment towards strengthening the existing bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the signing of this agreement will facilitate avenues for engagement and people to people contact between the Maldives and Mongolia. Ambassador of Mongolia also expressed keen interest in strengthening the existing bilateral ties with the Maldives. He also reaffirmed their commitment to continue working closely in the multilateral arena.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue a separate notification to inform citizens of the entry into force of the Agreement, once all internal procedures in both countries have been completed.
