13 April 2012, Male'; Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon has met with the Director for South Asia and South East Asia at European External Action Services, Mr. Pedro Serano and the Head of Division In-charge of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Mr. David Tier during her visit to Brussels, Belgium.
During the meeting held at the European External Action Services, State Minister Dunya briefed them on the current political situation. She reiterated that President Waheed and his National Unity Government is committed to strengthening democracy in the Maldives. State Minister also noted that proceeding of the People's Majlis is a positive sign and that the Government remains committed to find a solution through the all party talks.
During the meeting Mr. Pedro reiterated the commitment of EU to support and engage with the Maldives, especially in strengthening democracy and in the area of climate change.
State Minister Dunya also met with Ms. Jean Lambert, Chairman of Delegation for Relations with South Asia and Member of European Parliament.
