Secretary (West) of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Sanjay Verma, called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid, today. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid emphasised on the importance of solidifying joint efforts in addressing the common security challenges to ensure peace and stability in both countries and the Indian Ocean region. Reflecting on the second meeting of India-Maldives joint working group on counter-terrorism, countering violent extremism and de-radicalisation held yesterday, both Minister Shahid and Secretary Verma reviewed the significant initiatives undertaken by both Maldives and India. They also discussed on further avenues to consolidate the ties of two countries in this area bilaterally and in the multilateral arena.
Secretary Verma is on a three-day Official Visit to the Maldives to co-chair the second meeting of India-Maldives joint working group on counter-terrorism, countering violent extremism and de-radicalisation.
