The Secretary General of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Md. Golam Sarwar has arrived today on an introductory visit to the Maldives. Secretary General Sarwar assumed charge as the 15th Secretary-General of the SAARC, in October 2023.
During the visit, SAARC Secretary General is scheduled to call on the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer. SAARC Secretary General will also meet with Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya during his visit.
SAARC Secretary General Sarwar will depart on 08 August 2024 on conclusion of his visit. The Secretary General is accompanied by his spouse Taslima Sarwar, Ms. Shahiya Ali Manik, Director, SAARC Secretariat and Mr. Bhavesh R. Trivedi, SAARC Secretariat.
