Saudi Arabia donates 50 tons of dates

07th July 2011, Male'; The Government of Maldives received 50 tons of date palm fruits donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ahead of the upcoming fasting month of Ramadan.



Ms. Khadyja Zahir, Deputy Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed the document of recipient on behalf of the Maldivian Government and Mr. Mohammad Bin Saadh Al-Hakbani, Representative from the Ministry of Finance signed on behalf of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government has donated large shipments of dates every year since 1988.

The State Trading Organization (STO) has been tasked with clearing the fruits from customs as well as its storage, after which the dates will be distributed through the Local Government Authority.
