04 December 2013, Male'; The Russian Ambassador to the Maldives, H.E. Alexander Karchava, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs today.
At the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated Minister Dunya on her appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and expressed the Russian government's eagerness to work closely with the Government in strengthening the relations between the two countries. The Ambassador reiterated that Russia always refrains from interfering with the domestic affairs of other countries, and assured of Russia's continued support to the Maldives.
Minister Dunya thanked the Russian government for its continuous support to the Maldives in the international arena, and discussed ways of further strengthening and diversifying the long existing bilateral relations between the two countries, especially through investment promotion between the two countries.
Ms Fathimath Inaya, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
