10 April 2014, Male; Ms. Alice Akunga. Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), presented her Letter of Appointment to H.E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives,
The Minister congratulated Ms. Akunga on her appointment and welcomed her to the Maldives. The Minister further expressed her profound appreciation for the role UNICEF plays in the development process of Maldives, especially in addressing issues with regard to the health and well-being of children in the Maldives.
The UNICEF Representative thanked the Minister for her wishes. The Minister and the UNICEF Representative discussed ways to further strengthen collaboration on child development between the Government of the Maldives and UNICEF.The UNICEF Representative further assured that UNICEF will work closely with, and support the Government in reaching its national development objectives.
