14 May 2014, Male'; Ms. Nobuko Horibe, Regional Director, Asia and the Pacific Regional Office of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has called on Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives.
During the meeting which was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning, Minister Dunya welcomed the Regional Director to the Maldives, and extended gratitude to the contribution that UNFPA has made to the Maldivian society and the development and progress of the country.
During the meeting, the Minister and the Regional Director discussed opportunities and avenues for further expanding UNFPA's role in the Maldives, especially with regard to women, girls, and young people.
Ms. Nobuko Horibe was appointed Regional Director, Asia and the Pacific Regional Office, UNFPA Bangkok in September 2008. She is visiting the Maldives from 12 to 14 May 2014.
