08 April 2014, Male'; President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Japan from 14th - 17th April 2014.
During the visit, the President would meet with His Majesty Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister ShinzÅ Abe, and other senior Ministers of the Japanese Government, and hold discussions in further improving and expanding the excellent relations between the Maldives and Japan. During the visit, President Yameen would also meet with business leaders and potential investors with a view of further expanding economic opportunities for Maldives in Japan.
Japan has been one of the most important development partners for the Maldives since 1970's.
