President of Sri Lanka concludes State Visit to the Maldives

27 June 2014, Male'; President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady ‎Shiranthi Rajapaksa, have concluded their state visit to the Maldives. The ‎Sri Lankan President and First Lady were seen off at the Malé ‎International Airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dunya Maumoon. ‎



During the visit, President Rajapaksa called on President Abdulla ‎Yameen Abdul Gayoom and held official talks between both ‎Governments.‎

Three important agreements were signed between the ‎Government of Maldives and Sri Lanka during the visit. The three ‎agreements signed were, MoU on Health Cooperation; MoU on ‎Strengthening cooperation between Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and ‎Ministry of Economic Development of Maldives, and the agreement for ‎Arrangement on Search and Rescue

President Yameen and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim hosted a ‎State banquet in honour of the Sri Lankan President and First Lady.‎
