President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has this evening hosted the official banquet on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of National Independence. The banquet was held at Dharubaaruge.
Cabinet Ministers, Members of the Parliament, recipients of National Honours, State Ministers, Deputy Ministers, heads of various independent institutions, and political leaders were in attendance at the function.
President Maithripala Sirisena of Sri Lanka, and other foreign dignitaries who arrived for the Independence Day functions, also attended the banquet.
