President and First Lady of Sri Lanka to make a State ‎Visit to the Maldives

23 June 2014, Male'; President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi ‎Rajapaksa of Sri Lanka will arrive in the Maldives on Wednesday, 25th ‎June, on a State Visit. The Sri Lankan President is to make this State ‎Visit at the invitation of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, ‎extended earlier this year during his State Visit to Sri Lanka.‎



President Rajapaksa will be accompanied by an official ‎delegation comprising of Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament ‎and other senior Sri Lankan government officials. During his visit to ‎the Maldives, President Rajapaksa is scheduled to meet with President ‎Yameen to discuss bilateral ties between the two countries. High level ‎talks will be held at the President's Office between delegations of both ‎countries. President Yameen will also host a state banquet in honour of ‎the President and First Lady of Sri Lanka. ‎

The Sri Lankan President is the first Head of State, or Head of ‎Government, to make a State Visit to the Maldives since the ‎assumption of presidential office by President Yameen.‎
