Official Talks held between India and Maldives

29th July 2011, Male';The official talks between the visiting Indian External Affairs Minister and the Maldivian Government was held today in Kurumba Maldives Resort.



The Maldivian delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Mr. Ahmed Naseem. The delegation included Minister of Finance and Treasury H. E. Mr. Ahmed Inaz, Minister of Home Affairs H. E. Mr. Hassan Afeef, Minister of Housing and Environment H. E. Mr. Mohamed Aslam, Minister of Economic Development H. E. Mr. Mahmood Razee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms. Hawla Ahmed Didi and Maldives High Commissioner to India H. E. Mr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf.

During the official talks held with H. E. Mr. S. M. Krishna, discussions was carried out on ways to further the bilateral relations between the two neighbours and the Maldivian delegation thanked India for all the assistance that was being provided by India in the development of the country.

Minister of External Affairs H. E. Mr. S. M Krishna said that India would assist Maldives to host a successful 17th SAARC Summit. Discussions were also held improving joint efforts in the region and the international arena, as well as local projects underway in the Maldives.

A press briefing session was held after the talks by the Minister of Environment and Housing, H. E. Mr. Mohamed Aslam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H. E. Ms. Hawla Ahmed Didi and Indian Foreign Secretary designate H. E. Mr. Ranjan Mathai.
