03rd June 2011, Male'; The Certificate programme in International Relations was initiated today at a ceremony held at the Maldives National University Hithadhoo Campus. The opening lecture was given by His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Hussain Zaki Special Advisor to the President.
The Certificate programme plays an important role in the preparations in South Province for the Seventeenth SAARC Summit. The course is aimed at training liaison officers for the Seventeen SAARC Summit and to find opportunity for those who aspire to hold leadership positions in Foreign Service, Foreign Missions or find a career with international development agencies, or NGO or INGOs or wish to seek employment in corporate sector with high interactions with foreign parties or with its representation internationally.
The three months certificate course been was developed with the support from Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies under the guidance of the Maldives National University by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The programme will be conducted by Foreign and Maldivian lecturers; in addition services of currently serving and retired diplomats will share their experiences and perspectives.
