H.E. Mr. Pelpolage Ranga Sujeewa Goonawardena, Sri Lanka’s new High Commissioner to the Maldives, called on Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer following the presentation of credentials to His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives at a ceremony held at the President’s Office today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Moosa Zameer congratulated High Commissioner Goonawardena on his appointment as Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to the Maldives. Minister Zameer emphasized the longstanding friendship between the Maldives and Sri Lanka and expressed optimism about future collaborations. Furthermore, Minister Moosa Zameer reflected on the challenges faced by Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka.
Minister Zameer and High Commissioner Goonawardena discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, focusing on economic, cultural, and political cooperation. They also highlighted the importance of unity and cooperation in overcoming common challenges and ensuring a prosperous future for both nations.
Minister Zameer was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya, Secretary Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Additional Secretary Mohamed Faisal and Director-General Aishath Fareena.
