Newly Appointed High Commissioner of Sri Lanka calls on the Minister of Foreign Affairs

The newly appointed High Commissioner of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Maldives Mohamed Rizvi Hassen paid a courtesy call on Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, today.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the presentation of Letters of Credence by High Commissioner Hassen to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the ceremony held at the President’s Office. 

During the meeting, Minister Dr. Khaleel warmly welcomed High Commissioner and extended congratulations on his appointment as the new High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives. Minister Dr. Khaleel and High Commissioner Hassen discussed ways to further strengthen the long-standing bilateral relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. 

Minister Dr. Khaleel expressed appreciation for Sri Lanka’s continued support in various sectors, particularly in field of education and human resource development, and acknowledged the strong people-to-people ties between the two nations. High Commissioner Hassen reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with the Maldives and exploring new avenues for collaboration in line with shared regional priorities.

Minister Dr. Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Aminath Shabeena, Ambassador-at-Large, Abdullah Hameed and Additional Secretary Aminath Abdulla Didi.
