Newly appointed High Commissioner of Canada to the Maldives calls on the Foreign Minister
The newly appointed High Commissioner of Canada to the Maldives, Eric Walsh called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid congratulated High Commissioner Walsh on his appointment and reflected on the close and cordial relations between the Maldives and Canada. Minister Shahid and High Commissioner Walsh also discussed ways to further increase the collaboration between the two countries in areas of mutual interest such as climate action, democracy and good governance, and global peace and security.
High Commissioner Walsh expressed the commitment of the Canadian Government to find new avenues for cooperation including increasing people-to-people ties.
Minister Shahid was accompanied by Foreign Secretary Ahmed Latheef, Secretary, Bilateral Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary Economic Cooperation Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, Joint Secretary Shiuneen Rasheed and Desk Officer Saifulla Waleed.
