New UNDP Resident Representative to the Maldives presents credentials to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

The new UNDP Resident Representative to the Maldives, Enrico Gaveglia, presented credentials to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel, today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting State Minister Khaleel and the Resident Representative discussed the role of UNDP in the Maldives, especially with regard to social and economic development. They also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Government of Maldives and UNDP, including economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. State Minister Khaleel thanked the UNDP for the generous assistance provided to the Maldives during the pandemic, taking special note of the support provided to the health sector of the Maldives by UNDP.

UNDP has been an active contributor to the social and economic development of the Maldives. The UNDP Office in the Maldives was established in 1978.
