3rd April 2011, Male';The New Ambassador of Norway accredited to the Republic of Maldives, Ms. Hilda Haraldstad has presented her letter of credence to The President of Maldives His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Nasheed today.
At the ceremony held at the President's Office, President Nasheed congratulated new Ambassador Haraldstad. The President and the Ambassador also discussed the current political and economic situation in the Maldives.
The President, underscoring the recent local council elections held in the country, said local governance and decentralization were the country's newest project. Further he sought Norwegian assistance to strengthen democratic governance in the Maldives.
The meeting was attended by Advisor on Political Affairs Mr. Mohamed Shihab and Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Mr. Ahmed Naseem.
