New Non-Resident High Commissioner of Malaysia calls on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

His Excellency Mr. Badli Hisham bin Adam, Non-Resident High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Republic of Maldives paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, today. High Commissioner Badli had earlier in the morning presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

At the meeting held in the Foreign Ministry, State Minister Khaleel, congratulated High Commissioner Badli on his appointment and expressed confidence that High Commissioner would serve to reinforce the long-standing brotherly relations between the two countries.

In this regard, State Minister Khaleel and High Commissioner Badli, discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly bilateral ties, especially in relation to bilateral trade cooperation, education, sports, and developmental cooperation.

State Minister Khaleel thanked the Government of Malaysia for the kind hospitality extended towards the Maldivian community in Malaysia. State Minister Khaleel noted that Malaysia is a destination of choice for Maldivian students and that Malaysia is a country that hosts one of the largest Maldivian communities. Both also discussed consular matters relating to the Maldivians living in Malaysia and exchanged views on further simplifying the arrangements.

High Commissioner Badli was accompanied by the Secretary and Head of Chancery of the High Commission of Malaysia, Mr.Aneurin Ignatius.

State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Hala Hameed, Additional Secretary, Mr. Amin Javed Faizal, Senior Undersecretary, Ms. Fathimath Naeema and Assistant Director, Mr. Ibrahim Haail.
