New Non-Resident Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Maldives calls on Foreign Secretar
The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Maldives, His Excellency Woonjin Jeong called on Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, following the presentation of his credentials to H.E. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at a ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.
At the meeting held in the Ministry this morning, Foreign Secretary Ghafoor congratulated Ambassador Jeong on his appointment and expressed hope that the five decades of long-standing bilateral relations between both the countries would be further strengthened during Ambassador Jeong’s tenure.
Both the Foreign Secretary and Ambassador discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration in areas that are of mutual benefit to both countries. Foreign Secretary expressed the appreciation of the Government of Maldives for the scholarships that have been provided by the Government of the Republic of Korea under the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and expressed interest to explore possibilities for additional scholarship opportunities for Maldivian students.
Foreign Secretary thanked the Government of the Republic of Korea for the generous assistance provided to the Maldives for the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Foreign Secretary Ghafoor was accompanied by Additional Secretary, Mr. Javed Faizal and Executive Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms.Fathimath Naeema.
