New High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Maldives Calls on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
High Commissioner of Bangladesh Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad, NGP, ndc, psc, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel today.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, State Minister Khaleel congratulated the High Commissioner on presenting his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and expressed confidence that the relations between the two countries will be continue to flourish during his tenure.
State Minister Khaleel noted that the Maldives values its relations with Bangladesh as a close and historical partner, and expressed his appreciation for the numerous contributions made by Bangladesh to the socio-economic development of Maldives.
The State Minister and the High Commissioner also discussed ways to strengthen the existing friendly relations, with focus on strengthening health and education sectors.
Thanking State Minister Khaleel for the warm welcome, High Commissioner Azad conveyed his commitment to work closely with the Government of Maldives to further enhance the existing bilateral relations between the two countries in areas of mutual interest.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Joint Secretary, Fathimath Ghina and Aishath Leen Fazeeh, Senior Desk Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
