New French Ambassador calls on the Foreign Minister

07th January 2014, Male'; The New Ambassador of France accredited to the Maldives, H. E. Mr. Jean-Paul Monchau paid a courtesy call on H. E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs today.



During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister congratulated Ambassador Monchau on the commencement of his term.

Ambassador Monchau expressed his commitment to working with the Government of Maldives on strengthening the relations between the two countries.

Minister Dunya, noted the close bilateral relations between the two countries, and expressed confidence in further strengthening the ties during Ambassador Monchau's tenure.

The Minister and the Ambassador also discussed about opportunities for expanding relations between the two countries. In this regard, they highlighted climate change, tourism and fisheries as areas of cooperation.

The Minister also reiterated President Yameen's development priorities in areas of youth, economy, and infrastructure and women empowerment.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, H. E. Ms. Fathimath Inaya, Minister's Communication Director, Mr. Zaaid Ahmed and Head of Europe Desk Ms. Aminath Guraysha.
