New Ambassador of Thailand to Maldives calls on Minister of State for Foreign Affairs
The newly appointed Ambassador of Thailand to Maldives, His Excellency Poj Harnpol called on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Khaleel, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today. Ambassador Poj had earlier in the morning presented his credentials to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.
At the meeting today, State Minister Khaleel congratulated Ambassador Poj on the presentation of credentials and expressed confidence that the long-standing ties between the two countries will be further strengthened during his tenure.
State Minister Khaleel stated that the Maldives attaches great importance to its relations with Thailand and appreciates the continued assistance and co-operation received from Thailand towards the socio-economic development of Maldives, especially during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
State Minister Khaleel and Ambassador Poj discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly bilateral ties, in the area of education, tourism, sports and economic development cooperation.
State Minister Khaleel thanked the Government of Thailand for the hospitality extended to the Maldivians citizens residing in Thailand.
Ambassador Poj was accompanied by First Secretary at the Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo, Ms. Preeyanit Lumjiak and Honorary Consul of Thailand to Maldives, Mr. Ahmed Ali Manik.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Javed Faizal, Executive Director, Ms. Fathmath Naeema and Desk Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Haail.
