New Ambassador of Maldives presents credentials to the President of UAE

The new Ambassador of Maldives to the United Arab Emirates, His Excellency Mohamed Hussain Shareef presented his Letter of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, on Wednesday.

During a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace of UAE - Qasr Al Watan, Ambassador Shareef also hoisted the Maldivian flag, inspected a UAE military guard and witnessed the playing of the Maldives national anthem.

Following the presentation, His Highness the President welcomed Ambassador Shareef, congratulated him on the commencement of his term, and wished him success in undertaking his duties.  His Highness the President also reflected on the long-standing bilateral relations between the Maldives and UAE, and expressed his firm commitment to working together with the new Ambassador and supporting the developmental vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. 

Ambassador Shareef expressed gratitude and conveyed greetings and sincere good wishes from President Dr. Muizzu and the people of the Maldives to the President and people of the UAE. The Ambassador also expressed his commitment to furthering the existing bilateral relations and close cooperation between the two countries. 

The Maldives and the UAE established diplomatic relations on 15 March 1978. Ambassador Mohamed Hussain Shareef is the sixth Ambassador of Maldives to the UAE.
