New Ambassador of Japan calls on Foreign Minister

The first resident Ambassador of Japan His Excellency Mr. Kazumi Endo, paid a call on Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim, this afternoon.

During the call held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Asim congratulated Ambassador Kazumi Endo on his new appointment as the first resident Ambassador of Japan in the Maldives.

The Minister expressed his hope and confidence that the relations between the two countries will continue to grow from strength to strength. At the meeting, The Minister and the Ambassador highlighted the importance of promoting economic cooperation in sectors such as fisheries development, tourism, renewable energy and communication.

Ambassador His Excellency Mr. Kazumi Endo presented his credentials to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom, this morning, at a ceremony held at the President’s Office.

The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary Ms. Aishath Azeema and Senior Undersecretary Ms. Fathimath Muna of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Masaharu Shimizu, Charge’d’ affaires, Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Maldives.
