Ministry Conducts a Training Programme for Media

17 January 2013, Male'; Ministry of Foreign Affairs has conducted a training programme on media coverage on Human Trafficking issue.



During the training programme held at VTV yesterday reporters, journalists and programme producers representing V Media, VTV, V Online and Veekly participated in the training. The training session was conducted by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs H. E. Mr. Hassan Saeed Hussain and areas covered included an introduction of Human Trafficking, how to address the issue in the media, how to report and video coverage of human trafficking issue. Also highlighted on the training was the importance of protecting the identity of human trafficking victims.

The Ministry conducted the training session under the Blue Ribbon Campaign launched on 9th January against human trafficking in collaboration with the local media. The Ministry will conducted similar training sessions to other media outlets in the future. Trafficking of persons is a major concern of the government, given its domestic and international commitments on human rights protection.
