Minister Shahid sends Republic Day greetings to India

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid sent a message of felicitations to the Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar, on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day of India.

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“It is with much pleasure that I convey to Your Excellency and the friendly people of the Republic of India, warm felicitations, and good wishes on behalf of the Government and people of Maldives, on the auspicious occasion of the Republic Day of India.

The enactment of the Constitution of India, 74 years ago laid the foundation of democracy in India. This important milestone has led the way for growth and development of the nation and for the people of India. For a country so rich in diversity, the success of the Constitution itself is impressive and inspirational for many nations.

Relations between India and Maldives is both traditional and historical. India has always been at the forefront when it came to providing support to the Maldives, both bilaterally and at multilateral forums. India is a preferred economic and strategic partner for the Maldives as cooperation between our two countries is based on mutual trust and our shared commitment for the development of our nations and region. The Maldives-India relationship is undoubtedly, a priority to the Government, and I am convinced that it will continue to grow to new heights.

I also wish to take this opportunity to convey my personal good wishes for your health and well-being, and for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of India.
