Minister Shahid sends National Day greetings to France
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of greetings to Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, on the festive occasion of the National Day of France.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“On behalf of the People, the Government of the Maldives, and on my own behalf, it is my great pleasure to extend warm wishes to Your Excellency, the People and the Government of the French Republic on the joyous occasion of the National Day of France on the 14th of July.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on 20 May 1969, France has been a close friend and partner in the democratic and development journey of the Maldives. This five-decade long relationship has been highlighted with close cooperation in several key areas such as climate change, environmental protection and counter terrorism.
The Maldives also welcomes thousands of French travelers to its shores every year and we look forward to continuing to do so in the years to come. I am confident that this relation will grow from strength to strength in the years to come.
Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for your continued well-being and the assurances of my highest considerations.”
