Minister Shahid sends Independence Day greetings to India

Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of felicitations ‎‎to Minister of External Affairs His Excellency Dr S Jaishankar, on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of India.

Minister’s message reads as follows:

“Excellency,

On behalf of the Government and people of Maldives, I take great pride in conveying to Your Excellency, Government and the friendly people of the Republic of India, warmest congratulations and best wishes on the jubilant occasion of your 75th Independence Day.

I highly value our expanding partnership, which has deepened and widened over the last three years. Despite the current global challenges, India continues to inspire the world with its unity in diversity in various spheres, including development, governance, technology reform, progress and policy. India has proven to be our “first and best” friend and partner in any crisis, and at any time.

I am confident that, based on the centuries-old traditions of friendship, good neighborliness, mutual respect and trust, we will continue to strengthen the strategic partnership, for the betterment of our countries and peoples, in the interests of ensuring peace, stability and constructive cooperation in the region.

On this day of immense joy and celebration across India, it gives me great pleasure to convey my personal good wishes for your well-being, and for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the friendly people of India.
