Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid sends congratulatory message to Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has sent a congratulatory message to the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Socialist Republic Sri Lanka, His Excellency Dinesh Gunawardena, on Sri Lanka’s successful parliamentary elections.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“I would like to extend my heartfelt felicitations to Your Excellency, the Government and people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka on the peaceful and successful conclusion of the parliamentary elections, specially under the challenging circumstances of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.
The immense support of the Sri Lankan people and decisive victory provide irrefutable proof of the trust and confidence that Sri Lankans place in the current leadership and the ruling party of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), to take forward their hopes and aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous nation.
On this momentous occasion, let me reaffirm our commitment to further enhance the close bilateral relations between Maldives and Sri Lanka, and cooperation on mutually important areas at regional and international fora.
