Minister Shahid sends Australia Day greetings
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid sends message of felicitations to Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Australia on the occasion of Australia Day.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“On behalf of the Government, the people of the Republic of Maldives and on my own behalf, I would like to extend warm greetings and sincere best wishes to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of the Commonwealth of Australia, on the occasion of Australia Day.
It is with great appreciation I note that Australia has played a vital role in the development trajectory of the Maldives. A strong testament of this is the extensive collaboration we have on multitude of areas and commonality on many issues – including sustainable development challenges, good governance, human rights, our mutually beneficial and strategic partnership, and Australia’s great contribution to the training of our Youth-future of our nation.
As we commemorate the 49th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties, I see great strides of success built on strong bonds of friendship and I look forward to deepening this mutually beneficial partnership in the future.
