Minister Shahid sends a message of condolence to the Minister of External Affairs of India
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has sent a message of condolence to the Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar, following the tragedy that has struck with the collapse of the suspension bridge in Morbi, Gujarat.
Minister’s message reads as follows:
“It is with deep sadness that I heard of the distressing news of the collapse of the bridge on the Machchu River in Gujarat’s Morbi District causing the tragic loss of so many innocent lives and injury to many more.
At this time of distress, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, I extend our deepest sympathies to the Government and the people of India, especially to the grieving families that had lost their loved ones. I also wish for a speedy recovery for those injured.
I hope that the efforts of the emergency response teams proceed with ease and success, and commend the perseverance of the people of India during this difficult time.”
