Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Abdulla Shahid sent a message of congratulations to the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Dr. Hakan Fidan, today.
Minister's message reads as follows:

It gives me great pleasure to extend my sincere congratulations to you on your appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s impressive victory in the Presidential Election of 2023.
The Maldives and Türkiye have a long-standing history of friendly relations marked by mutual understanding, respect, and a steadfast commitment to peace, stability, and development. The official visit by your predecessor His Excellency Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in January 2022 was a significant milestone in our relations. It paved the way for enhanced cooperation in the areas of trade, agriculture, environment, culture and education. I eagerly look forward to working closely with you to further strengthen these enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two countries.
