Minister Shahid meets with more Heads of Delegations on the sidelines of Raisina Dialogue

Minister has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark His Excellency Jeppe Kofod and the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa Her Excellency Naledi Pandor on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue.

During his meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, both Ministers discussed the common threat of climate change, and terrorism, and how countries like the Maldives and Denmark can work together in addressing these threats. Both Ministers also discussed strengthening of bilateral cooperation between both countries.

Minister Shahid and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation from South Africa discussed how both countries can cooperation in the international frameworks, including within IORA and the UN, as well as through the Commonwealth, once the Maldives becomes a member.

The new European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice President of the Commission His Excellency Josep Borrell Fontelles also met with the Minister on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue. During the meeting, the Minister and the High Representative /Vice President discussed progress made since the visit of the former High Representative/Vice President Her Excellency Federica Mogherini to the Maldives in August 2019.

The Minister and Deputy National Security Advisor of the United States of America discussed various aspects of the Maldives-US relationship, including terrorism, socio-economic development, and good governance.

Minister Shahid is in New Delhi, attending the 2020 edition of the Raisina Dialogue from 14-16 January 2020.
