Minister Shahid held a virtual interaction with Permanent Representatives and representatives from a number of EU member states
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid today, held a virtual interaction with members of the European Union at the United Nations. Permanent Representatives and representatives from a number of EU member states took part in the meeting.
In his remarks, Minister Shahid highlighted the close relationship between the Maldives and the European Union, in international forums as well as bilaterally. He further highlighted the many thematic areas on which the Maldives has worked together with EU member states, including fighting against climate change, strengthening the multilateral system, promotion of human rights and good governance.
During the meeting, Minister Shahid shared his perspectives on the sustainable recovery pathways from Covid19, enhancing climate action, women’s empowerment and gender equality, and revitalization of the work of the General Assembly.
