Permanent Representatives and representatives from a number Member States of NAM took part in the meeting
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid today, held a virtual interaction with the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) at the United Nations. Permanent Representatives and representatives from a number Member States of NAM took part in the meeting.
In his remarks, Minister Shahid reaffirmed the close alignment in interests and priorities between NAM and the Maldives, including on issues such as sustainable recovery from Covid19, sustainable development, peace, and multilateralism. Minister Shahid highlighted that the strength of NAM lay in its strong sense of solidarity and unity for over 50 years, and congratulated the Membership in that regard.
During the meeting, shared his perspectives on the sustainable recovery pathways from Covid19, and also highlighted the importance of working together to enhance the multilateral system and international cooperation.
