Both Ministers reflected on the remarkable strides taken to advance the close bilateral relationship between Maldives and UAE
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid, held a telephone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this evening.
During the telephone call, the two Ministers shared updates on the situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, and briefed on the measures taken by their respective Governments to contain and combat the current and long-term challenges of the pandemic. Minister Shahid commended the leadership and the Government of UAE in cooperating with countries, especially those most vulnerable to the effects of the pandemic such as the Maldives, to bolster the global effort to recover from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Both Ministers reflected on the remarkable strides taken to advance the close bilateral relationship between the two countries over the course of the past year, and expressed confidence in the flourishing spirit of cooperation between the Maldives and UAE. The two Ministers made special note of the fruitful first Session of the Joint Committee of Cooperation between the Maldives and UAE, and the ongoing series of Webinars with the Chambers of Commerce of the Emirates, and expressed hope that these avenues would spur on even more cooperation in the near future. Minister Shahid conveyed appreciation to the UAE for the generous and consistent support provided towards the socio-economic development efforts of the Maldives.
Both Ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation between the Maldives and UAE in the international arena, towards the attainment of priorities shared by the two countries. Minister Shahid expressed appreciation to the leadership of UAE for the great working partnership enjoyed by the two countries in regional and international platforms.
Minister Shahid and Minister Al Nahyan also reiterated their faith in the close relationship shared by the Maldives and UAE, and reaffirmed willingness to continue working together to fortify the existing bond between the two countries.
