Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Shahid has arrived in Colombo on an Official Visit.
Minister Shahid will lead the Maldives delegation at the Fourth Session of the Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission, which will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, today, 7 June 2023. During this visit Minister Shahid will pay courtesy calls on His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Dinesh Gunawardena, Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and meet his counterpart, Foreign Minister M.U.M Ali Sabry.
The Maldives – Sri Lanka Joint Commission was established in 1984 with the primary aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, including in trade & investment, defence, tourism, fisheries, education, health, employment, youth, sports and skills development, consular and cultural affairs.
Minister Shahid is accompanied by His Excellency Ahmed Latheef, Foreign Secretary, His Excellency Dr Hussain Niyaaz, Secretary, Economic Development, Her Excellency, Dr Hala Hameed, Secretary, Bilateral, and Ms. Aishath Fareena, Assistant Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
