Minister Shahid arrives in India, on an Official Visit
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has arrived on an Official Visit to India this evening. The Minister was received at the Indhira Gandhi International Airport by the High Commissioner of Maldives to India, Ibrahim Shaheeb and senior officials of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.
During his visit to New Delhi, Minister Shahid will meet his counterpart, Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr. S. Jaishankar and other high level officials of the Government of India, and hold discussions on strengthening the traditionally close friendly relations between the Maldives and India. Additionally, the visit will also signify the strengthening of the bilateral ties between Maldives and India as several Memorandums of Understanding are to be exchanged in the field of socioeconomic cooperation.
During the visit, Minister Shahid will also be delivering the 43rd Sapru House Lecture (SHL) at the Indian Council for World Affairs and meet with a number of Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to the Maldives based in New Delhi.
Minister Shahid is accompanied by Secretary, Bilateral, Dr. Hala Hameed, Joint Secretary, Abdul Waris Saeed and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
