Minister of Wakf and Religious Affairs of the State of Palestine calls on Foreign Minister

7 April 2013, Male':Minister of Wakf and Religious Affairs of the State of Palestine, H.E. Dr. Mahmoud S.A. Al-Habbash met with His Excellency Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, today.



During the meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the two dignitaries noted the close brotherly relations between the Maldives and Palestine and discussed ways of further strengthening these ties. The discussion also focused on increasing cooperation between the two countries in various areas that are of mutual benefit.

The two dignitaries also addressed on various issues faced by Islamic countries in the contemporary world and ways on how both countries can work together to overcome the said issues. H.E. Dr. Mahmoud S.A. Al-Habbash stated that Palestine seeks support of the brotherly nations as well as the International Community, in their struggle for freedom.

Continuing the discussion, Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah assured the Maldivian Government and its peoples support to the Palestinian Government and for the Palestinian cause. Minister Dr. Abdul Samad Abdullah also mentioned that Maldives supported Palestinian bid for recognition of the Statehood of Palestine at the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting was attended by Honourable Sheikh Mohamed Didi, Minister of State for Islamic Affairs, His Excellency Mr. Abdul Azeez Yoosuf, Ambassador at Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and senior officials of both Ministries. His Excellency Dr. Anwar Al Agha, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Republic of Maldives and officials of the Ministry of Wakf and Religious Affairs of the State of Palestine also attended the meeting
