Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Moosa Zameer, held bilateral talks with Minister of External Affairs of India Dr. S. Jaishankar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both Ministers engaged in extensive and thorough dialogue, expressing their commitment to further solidify the longstanding relations between the Maldives and India.
During the official discussions, Minister Zameer expressed his appreciation for India's continued assistance in the socio-economic advancement of the Maldives. Minister highlighted the vital role of Indian grant assistance and Line of Credit schemes in improving infrastructure and community livelihoods across the Maldives.
Both Ministers agreed on the necessity of intensifying the partnership between the Maldives and India, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, to foster more opportunities for foreign direct investments. Additionally, they reviewed collaboration in human resource development, economic cooperation, multilateral engagement, and defense and maritime security cooperation between the Maldives and India.
Minister Dr. Jaishankar is on a three-day official visit to the Maldives on an invitation by Minister Zameer, marking the first official visit of a high-level dignitary to the Maldives under the current administration.
